FreeUkraine participated at AidEx2023 Humanitarian Exhibition in Geneva

Free Ukraine represented Ukraine as the sole stand at aidex2023 in Geneva - the global humanitarian exhibition. As volunteers, we are dedicated to supporting Ukraine's humanitarian demining efforts and providing explosive ordnance risk education for kids in our homeland.

During October 25-26 2023 FreeUkraine communicated about Humanitarian Challenge that Ukraine is facing now. 174,000+ sq. km (or 30%) of Ukrainian territory requires demining. 445,000+ explosive devices have been detected and destroyed since February 2022.

Why #DemineUkraine?

Since February 2022 Ukraine became the most mined country in the world with 30% contaminated with mine threats causing devastating effects on civilians, critical infrastructure, the environment, and also affecting the global food supply.

To tackle mine threats Ukraine has been implementing unprecedented measures to detect and clear explosive objects in both urban and rural areas.

As a response the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SESU) aims to scale up its operations for humanitarian demining actions. This effort requires additional humane and material resources.

Free Ukraine was officially appointed as the project coordinator to supply the SESU with 100 4x4 vehicles given our accreditation with Toyota as the humanitarian NGO and successful execution of similar projects in the past.

We are kindly asking for your support to provide 4X4 vehicles for the SESU that are urgently required to operate in difficult off-road and all-weather conditions in remote and rural areas of Ukraine. The estimated budget for 100 vehicles is $3M, which includes their purchase and delivery to Ukraine. We plan to fund the project through a consortium of donors in Switzerland and abroad.

We kindly ask you to consider supporting this humanitarian initiative to contribute to the safety and wellbeing of the civilian population in Ukraine for the next decades. The SESU will sign an end-user license, which guarantees that these vehicles will be used for humanitarian purposes only.

We reassure you that this is a unique national level urgent cause, which can save and protect many civilian lives in Ukraine. The use of project funds will be carefully verified and checked by an international audit.
