🎨 🎵 On December 9, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Ukrainian Evening CORTEX took place near Lausanne in Pully.

This gathering honored resilient individuals who have confronted life's most difficult challenges, spanning from historical adversities such as the victims of Holodomor, an artificial famine, to the present-day struggles along the eastern and southern borders of Ukraine. These courageous souls stand united against the barbaric onslaughts from russia, exemplifying strength and fortitude in the face of adversity.

Within the gallery, this special event featured musical moments with Bandura and forte piano, as well as a reading of Ukrainian poetry.

🖌 Philippe Jean (Born in Lausanne in 1961)

A self-taught painter since the late eighties, Philippe Jean has attended workshops in Switzerland (Chamby) and France (Doubs). He explores the intermediate realms between realism and abstraction, seeking to express faces or landscapes that evoke free and emotional spaces.

Since 1998, his work on HEADS has been at the core of his artistic research. These Heads are not ordinary portraits but presences laden with stories, battles, and reconciliations. The material of the faces is often worn, attacked, sometimes destroyed to the weave, before being reconstructed and restructured. The Heads represent an in-depth exploration of BEING and the opposing forces that threaten its annihilation.

In 2018, the SEA entered his studio, also holding a significant place in his current creation. The formats of his Marines range from postage stamp size (5 cm x 5 cm) to very large format (triptych 3.50 m x 1.60 m).

Exhibiting in Switzerland and abroad since the early 90s, his works are present in important private collections. For this new exhibition at the Galerie du Prieuré de Pully, Philippe Jean presents his latest HEADS.

This exhibition stands in solidarity with Ukraine, providing support to the Free Ukraine association. As part of this event, Philippe Jean also commits to donating 10% of the profits from this exhibition to Free Ukraine.

We are looking forward to meeting you soon.
